Bethesda, MD - In a significant move aimed at positioning itself for future growth, Marriott International (Nasdaq: MAR) has announced a series of leadership transitions and strategic realignments across its key regions. This announcement, made on January 9, 2026, marks the retirement of two long-standing executives and the promotion of three seasoned leaders within the company.

1. Leadership Transitions

Effective March 28, 2026, Liam Brown, Group President, U.S. and Canada, and Brian King, President, Enterprise Transformation & Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), will step down from their roles. Both executives will retire from the company at the end of June 2026 after decades of service that have greatly impacted Marriott's trajectory.

Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International, expressed immense gratitude for Brown and King’s leadership. “Their impact on Marriott and our people cannot be overstated,” he stated. Capuano highlighted their roles during critical phases of the company’s growth, underscoring their commitment to associates, guests, and owners.

2. Recognizing Exceptional Leaders

Liam Brown

Liam Brown’s nearly 40-year tenure at Marriott has been marked by strategic growth and a robust market presence. Starting as General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Syracuse, New York, Brown advanced through various leadership roles, eventually overseeing critical operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the U.S. and Canada. His contributions have included a focus on franchising and brand management, which enhanced Marriott’s operational efficiencies and market resilience.

Brian King

Brian King has also enjoyed a distinguished three-decade career at Marriott, characterized by transformative growth across CALA. Under his guidance, the region expanded to encompass 37 countries and territories, achieving record performance levels. King was instrumental in Marriott's strategic entry into the affordable midscale segment and strengthening its all-inclusive offerings, solidifying the company's competitive edge in the hospitality sector.

3. New Leadership Appointments

Satya Anand: Group President, U.S., Canada & CALA

Stepping into the role of Group President for U.S., Canada, and CALA is Satya Anand, who has been with Marriott for 37 years. Anand’s previous role as President of EMEA saw him drive digital transformation and sustainability initiatives, expanding the region’s portfolio to over 1,300 properties. His strategic vision and people-centric leadership will be essential as he unifies these markets under a structured approach, fostering collaboration and alignment across North America and Latin America.

Neal Jones: President, EMEA

Neal Jones, with three decades of experience at Marriott, will take on the role of President for EMEA. His extensive background in sales, marketing, and operations, coupled with his recent leadership of the integration of Design Hotels into Marriott’s offerings, positions him well to guide the region’s operations across nearly 80 countries and 1,300 properties. Jones’s focus on innovation and strong owner relationships will be crucial as he navigates the next chapter for EMEA.

Federico "Fede" Greppi: President, CALA

Federico "Fede" Greppi, a trilingual leader with over 22 years of hospitality experience, will lead the CALA region. As Chief Operating Officer for CALA, Greppi was fundamental in translating Marriott's global strategies into localized actions that expanded the company’s footprint to over 500 properties in 37 markets. His deep understanding of the local markets, along with his operational and financial expertise, will be vital as CALA embarks on its next growth phase.

4. A Unified Vision for Growth

Marriott's strategic realignment comes at a crucial time as the company seeks to enhance its market position and operational efficiencies. Capuano emphasized the significance of these appointments, stating, “Today's appointments position Marriott for our next chapter of growth.” The leadership changes aim to sharpen execution and elevate outcomes for associates, guests, and owners, ultimately reinforcing Marriott’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

As Marriott prepares for this transition, Anand, Jones, and Greppi will assume their new roles on March 28, 2026. Brown and King will continue to support the company in advisory positions until their retirement in June, ensuring a seamless handover of responsibilities.

The changes in leadership signify Marriott's commitment to adapting to the evolving hospitality landscape while building on the strong foundation established by its outgoing leaders. As the company looks to the future, these appointments reflect a strategic vision that seeks to drive growth and enhance the guest experience across its global portfolio.
