On May 14, 2025, Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER) and iFood announced a groundbreaking strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the daily lives of millions of consumers in Brazil. This collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating transportation and delivery services, allowing users to seamlessly access Uber rides and iFood's extensive delivery offerings through both platforms.

1. A New Era of Convenience

The partnership is set to simplify the lives of Brazilian consumers by eliminating the need to switch between apps for different services. Users of iFood will now be able to book Uber rides directly from the iFood app, while Uber users will have access to iFood’s food, grocery, pharmacy, and convenience delivery services within the Uber app. This integration is expected to save time and improve the overall user experience, establishing a more cohesive ecosystem for daily needs.

“Our mission is to help people go anywhere and get anything at the tap of a button,” said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. “Today, only around half of iFood and Uber customers in Brazil use both platforms. So this partnership represents a big milestone in our mission to create a seamless experience for our users.”

2. Remarks from iFood's Leadership

Diego Barreto, CEO of iFood, echoed Khosrowshahi’s sentiments, stating, “iFood has transformed the way people order food and everyday items in Brazil, just as Uber has revolutionized the way Brazilians move around. This integration represents a major step forward, with both companies innovating to offer a new way to access everyday services.”

He added that the partnership is expected to drive increased orders for restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and convenience retailers, generating more income for couriers and drivers and ultimately making consumers’ everyday lives easier.

3. How the Integration Works

Consumers will have the flexibility to continue using their preferred app for ordering services. If they choose to use Uber, the Delivery tab will transition to iFood, and for those using iFood, a new Mobility tab will facilitate ride bookings through Uber. Currently, membership programs such as Uber One and 'Clube iFood' will remain unchanged, although both companies are exploring potential joint membership initiatives in the future.

The rollout of this integration is expected to begin in select cities in Brazil during the second half of 2025, with plans for a nationwide expansion shortly thereafter. Importantly, Uber's existing white-label delivery services (Uber Direct) and parcel delivery options (Uber Flash) will continue to operate independently, ensuring that the core business offerings remain unaffected. Similarly, iFood will maintain its logistics services and the ‘Sob Demanda’ delivery service for partners outside the app.

4. About Uber and iFood

Uber has been at the forefront of transportation innovation since its establishment in 2010, providing over 61 billion trips and continuously evolving its offerings to enhance mobility. The company is committed to creating opportunities through movement, fundamentally changing how people, food, and goods move within urban environments.

On the other hand, iFood stands as a leader in online delivery within Latin America, utilizing cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to manage over 120 million orders per month. With a vast network of couriers and partner establishments, iFood connects customers with restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies in an efficient manner, proving to be a multifaceted platform that delivers convenience across various sectors.

5. Conclusion

The strategic partnership between Uber and iFood signifies an important milestone in the evolution of service integration in Brazil. By merging transportation and delivery services, both companies are poised to enhance user experiences and expand their respective market footprints. As this initiative rolls out, it will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of consumer convenience in Brazil, setting a precedent for similar collaborations in other regions.
