Uber Technologies, Pony.ai, and Verne Unveil Europe’s First Commercial Robotaxi Service

The collaboration between these three companies leverages each entity's unique strengths. Pony.ai will provide its sophisticated autonomous driving technology, Verne will serve as the fleet owner and operational partner, and Uber will integrate the robotaxi service into its extensive global ride-hailing platform. This partnership is designed to create a scalable, effective model for commercial robotaxi services, with the initial focus on Zagreb and plans for potential expansion into additional European markets.

Initial deployment efforts are already underway in Zagreb, where on-road testing of Pony.ai’s Gen-7 autonomous driving system is taking place. The testing involves the deployment of the Arcfox Alpha T5 Robotaxi, with preparations for fare-charging services also in progress. This proactive approach positions Zagreb as the first European city to experience a commercial robotaxi service, showcasing the potential for transformative urban transportation solutions.

Verne has been entrusted with leading the charge on market readiness and securing the necessary European regulatory approvals for the launch.
