On October 28, 2025, Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER) announced a significant advancement in its efforts to revolutionize urban mobility through the deployment of one of the world’s largest networks of autonomous vehicles. In a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA, Uber aims to accelerate the deployment of robotaxi and autonomous delivery fleets using NVIDIA's state-of-the-art AI architecture.

1. Transforming Mobility through Partnership

Uber’s partnership with NVIDIA represents a transformative step toward the future of transportation. The two companies will work closely to develop a fleet of autonomous vehicles utilizing the latest NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Hyperion platform, which includes the safety-certified NVIDIA DriveOS operating system and comprehensive NVIDIA DRIVE AV software, specifically designed for Level 4 autonomy.

Initial Fleet Deployment with Stellantis

As part of this ambitious initiative, Stellantis has committed to delivering at least 5,000 NVIDIA-DRIVE-powered Level 4 vehicles to Uber. These vehicles will support robotaxi operations not only in the United States but also across international markets. Uber will manage the entire fleet operations, ensuring seamless remote assistance, charging, cleaning, maintenance, and customer support.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, emphasized the potential impact of this partnership, stating, “NVIDIA is the backbone of the AI era, and is now fully harnessing that innovation to unleash L4 autonomy at enormous scale, while making it easier for NVIDIA-empowered AVs to be deployed on Uber. Autonomous mobility will transform our cities for the better, and we’re thrilled to partner with NVIDIA to help make that vision a reality.”

2. A New Era of Affordable Transportation

The collaboration is not only about technological advancement; it also aims to create more affordable transportation options for consumers. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, noted, “We have built AV-Ready Platforms to meet growing demand, and by partnering with leaders in AI, electronics, and mobility services, we aim to create a scalable solution that delivers smarter, safer, and more efficient mobility for everyone.”

The Vision of Robotaxis

NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, highlighted the broader implications of this technology. “Robotaxis mark the beginning of a global transformation in mobility—making transportation safer, cleaner, and more efficient,” he remarked. Huang expressed confidence that the collaboration with Uber would establish a framework for the industry to deploy autonomous fleets at scale, turning what was once considered science fiction into a tangible reality.

3. Building an Ecosystem for Level 4 Autonomy

Uber and NVIDIA are committed to fostering a comprehensive global Level 4 ecosystem that includes a variety of partners such as Aurora, Avride, May Mobility, and others. This ecosystem aims to advance autonomy in passenger mobility, trucking, and delivery services.

NVIDIA's DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 serves as a production-ready, modular compute and sensor architecture for fully autonomous driving, while the DRIVE AV platform provides the full-stack software necessary for Level 4 operations. This technology is designed for seamless integration with Uber’s extensive marketplace and operational framework across multiple vehicle types and partnerships.

Creating a Data-Driven Future

To further enhance their autonomous capabilities, Uber and NVIDIA are developing a robotaxi data factory, leveraging the NVIDIA Cosmos platform for physical AI. As part of this initiative, Uber plans to gather over 3 million hours of specialized driving data to fuel the training and validation of Level 4 models. NVIDIA will contribute GPUs, the Cosmos platform, and various tools for data curation and continuous improvement.

This collaborative effort aims to create a robust data engine that spans data ingestion, labeling, scenario mining, synthetic data generation, and large-scale training—streamlining the path from pilot programs to profitable autonomy deployment.

4. Conclusion

As Uber embarks on this ambitious journey to deploy one of the largest networks of autonomous vehicles, the collaboration with NVIDIA signals a pivotal moment in the evolution of urban mobility. By harnessing cutting-edge technology and fostering an extensive ecosystem of partners, Uber is poised to redefine transportation, making it safer, more efficient, and accessible to a broader audience. With these developments, the vision of autonomous mobility is rapidly becoming a reality, promising to transform the way we move through our cities.
