1. Major Expansion of Service Begins January 6, 2026

In a strategic move to enhance its winter travel offerings, United Airlines Holdings Inc. has announced an expansion of its flight schedule, adding services to 15 cities including popular destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Las Vegas. The new flights will commence on January 6, 2026, marking a significant increase in United's domestic and international connectivity.

2. New Routes and Increased Frequencies

The expansion includes one additional daily roundtrip flight from several key hubs:

  • Houston to Orlando, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Miami.
  • Chicago to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, and Las Vegas.
  • Newark/New York to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
  • Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

Additionally, two new routes will be introduced between Newark/New York and Columbia, South Carolina, as well as Chattanooga, Tennessee. United is also increasing its international offerings with three new weekly flights from Houston to Guatemala City, Guatemala, and San Salvador, El Salvador, along with one new weekly flight to San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

3. Enhancing Connectivity with Larger Aircraft

To facilitate smoother connections for passengers outside United's hubs, the airline is also increasing the number of flights between its major cities, including Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Notably, larger aircraft will be deployed on the Chicago to New York LaGuardia route, ensuring that more travelers can take advantage of the expanded flight schedule.

4. Addressing Market Opportunities

Patrick Quayle, United's Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, emphasized the strategic rationale behind this expansion. "If Spirit suddenly goes out of business, it will be incredibly disruptive, so we're adding these flights to give their customers other options if they want or need them," he stated. This proactive approach highlights United's commitment to capturing market share and providing alternatives for travelers amidst industry uncertainties.

5. United Airlines: The Largest Airline in the World

As the largest airline globally, United connects passengers to over 360 destinations, including 75 that no other U.S. airline serves. The airline operates more than 4,000 domestic flights daily, with the expanded winter schedule now offering 45 flights per day to Orlando, 30 to Fort Lauderdale, and 43 to Las Vegas. This growth not only solidifies United's market position but also enhances travel options for consumers across the United States.

6. Ticket Sales and Further Information

Tickets for the new flights will be available for purchase starting today. For more details about United's extensive route network and to buy tickets, customers are encouraged to visit United.com.

United Airlines' ongoing commitment to expanding its services reflects its overarching strategy to enhance customer experience and adapt to the evolving travel landscape.
