1. Introduction

Trimble Inc. (Nasdaq: TRMB) has made a significant stride in the construction technology sector with the announcement of its latest innovation—the Trimble Siteworks Machine Guidance Module for tilt bucket attachments. This new technology promises to transform excavators into precision construction tools, enabling operators to perform complex tasks with enhanced efficiency and accuracy.

2. Enhancing Excavation Precision

The Siteworks Machine Guidance Module is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing tilt bucket attachments, allowing for full visibility of the cutting edge's range of motion. This capability is crucial for tasks such as grading, leveling, ditch cleaning, and shaping, as well as backfilling and slope work. By providing construction teams with the ability to create contoured landscapes and operate effectively in confined spaces, the new module aims to save time and minimize costly errors on job sites.

3. Streamlined Workflows

A standout feature of the Siteworks Machine Guidance system is its ability to facilitate smooth transitions between different construction tasks. Operators can use the same system for both surveying and machine control, allowing them to shift effortlessly from one job to another. This is accomplished through a simple installation process using a machine kit and the Siteworks software module, which takes advantage of existing technologies.

Elwyn McLachlan, Vice President of Civil Solutions at Trimble, remarked on the system's comprehensive utility: “Siteworks Machine Guidance is an all-in-one solution for both layout and excavation. By adding the benefits of 3D guidance to the tip of a tilt bucket, operators understand where the bucket is in relation to the 3D model at all times.” He highlighted the efficiency of the technology, which allows a single operator to manage the entire workflow—from measuring points in the field to creating designs and capturing as-built data.

4. Cutting-Edge Technology

The Siteworks Machine Guidance system includes the advanced Trimble R780 GNSS Smart Antenna equipped with tilt compensation, powered by the Trimble ProPoint® positioning engine. Additionally, it is compatible with a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) approach or can be used with a Trimble field tablet running the Siteworks software. This flexibility enhances the technology's adaptability to various operational needs.

Contractors leveraging this system will also benefit from Trimble WorksManager Software, which enables the sharing of designs, remote support access, and efficient project management. When combined with a real-time Trimble correction service such as Trimble CenterPoint® RTX, contractors gain unparalleled mobility, eliminating the need for local base stations or VRS networks and achieving high-accuracy positioning globally.

5. Availability

The Trimble Siteworks Machine Guidance for tilt bucket attachments is expected to be available worldwide through the SITECH® distribution channel and select authorized resellers in the second quarter of 2025. For those interested in learning more, Trimble will showcase this groundbreaking technology at bauma 2025 in Munich, located in Hall A2, stand 437.
