As the anticipation for the 2026 Formula 1 season in the United States builds, IBM (NYSE: IBM) has made a significant move to enhance fan engagement through its partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. In a recent press release dated May 1, 2026, IBM unveiled a suite of new AI-powered features designed to enrich the Scuderia Ferrari app, providing the passionate global fanbase—known as Tifosi—with a closer connection to their beloved team, drivers, and cars.

1. New AI-Powered Features

The revamped Scuderia Ferrari app now boasts several innovative features that leverage IBM's cutting-edge technology. Key updates include:

AI Companion

At the heart of the app's enhancements is the AI Companion, developed using IBM's watsonx technology. This digital guide offers fans personalized interactions, delivering insights on race weeks and Ferrari's storied history. By utilizing conversation-style prompts, fans can pose questions related to the team, drivers, and the current season, receiving contextual and informative responses grounded in both real-time and historical data.

Game Center

The new Game Center is a vibrant hub for interactive fan engagement, allowing users to participate in race predictors, quizzes, and challenges that tie into live Grand Prix events. With global leaderboards and digital achievements, the Game Center fosters a competitive yet communal atmosphere among fans, encouraging shared experiences. The introduction of the always-on Countdown Quiz, along with an Achievements tab in the user profile, adds layers of engagement as fans compete against the clock and share their successes on social media.

Enhanced Race Center

The Race Center experience has been upgraded to provide fans with detailed session timelines, real-time driver data, and curated insights that follow Scuderia Ferrari throughout the race weekend. This feature enriches the viewing experience, allowing fans to stay informed as the action unfolds on track.

2. A Step Forward in Fan Engagement

Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at IBM, highlighted the importance of these enhancements, stating, "Fans today expect more than just access to information—they want to feel closer to the action, to the drivers, the teams, and to each other." He emphasized that the integration of AI into the app experience is a transformative step for fan engagement, demonstrating how technology can create meaningful and memorable experiences.

3. Impressive Metrics Since Relaunch

Since the relaunch of the app in May 2025, the partnership between IBM and Scuderia Ferrari has yielded impressive results. The app has seen a 35% increase in cumulative downloads and a 36% rise in Average Monthly Active Users. Notably, Average Race Active Users have surged by 56%, underscoring the app's growing popularity. Engagement metrics have also seen significant improvement, with a 62% increase in Views and a 35% lift in Engaged Sessions over the past year.

4. Looking Ahead

IBM plans to continue rolling out additional features throughout the 2026 Formula 1 season, promising fans even more opportunities to engage with the Scuderia Ferrari team and the sport. The redesigned Scuderia Ferrari mobile app is now available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, marking a new chapter in fan engagement powered by AI.

As the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix approaches, the excitement among fans is palpable, with IBM's technological innovations poised to enhance the experience of Tifosi worldwide.
