Home Depot Expands Tax-Free Shopping for Military Families

On May 1, 2025, Home Depot Inc. announced a significant expansion of its tax-free shopping program aimed at military families. This initiative broadens the range of products eligible for tax-free purchases, now encompassing nearly all online home improvement items. This strategic move is designed to benefit over 34 million eligible military exchange customers across the nation.

The expansion includes a wide variety of products beyond the previously covered large appliances. Military shoppers can now access tax-free deals on an extensive assortment of items including power tool sets, outdoor power equipment, grills, garden tools, and ceiling fans. This initiative significantly enhances Home Depot's commitment to serving the military community, as it now offers over 2 million SKUs eligible for tax-free shopping.

Eligible participants include active-duty service members, their dependents, retirees, National Guard members, Reservists, Coast Guard members, and honorably discharged veterans. To take advantage of this program, customers must confirm their eligibility through the websites ShopMyExchange.com or myNavyExchange.com.

Jordan Broggi, Home Depot's Executive Vice President of Customer Experience and President of Online, emphasized the company’s long-standing dedication to veteran causes. “Offering the military community greater benefits is one additional way we can support military members and their families after they've given us so much,” Broggi stated. This commitment is reflected not only in tax-free shopping but also through various initiatives like career opportunities, professional trades training, and community investments.

Shopping through the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) comes with additional lifelong benefits for military personnel. These include:
