1. Consolidated Financial Performance

United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS) has released its earnings report for the third quarter of 2025, revealing consolidated revenues of $21.4 billion. This marks a significant operating profit of $1.8 billion, with a non-GAAP adjusted operating profit totaling $2.1 billion. The company reported diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.55 for the quarter, while the non-GAAP adjusted diluted EPS stood at $1.74.

These results include a net charge of $164 million, equating to $0.19 per diluted share. This charge is attributed to after-tax transformation strategy costs of $250 million, which were partially offset by an $86 million benefit from the reversal of an income tax valuation allowance.

2. Strategic Asset Management

In a notable move, UPS entered into a sale-leaseback transaction involving five properties, resulting in a pre-tax gain of $330 million within its Supply Chain Solutions segment. This transaction contributed $0.30 to diluted earnings per share and is part of UPS's broader capital strategy aimed at monetizing certain real estate assets to reinvest in growth while maintaining operational continuity through structured leases.

CEO Carol Tomé expressed gratitude towards UPS employees, highlighting their commitment to customer service during this pivotal time. She stated, "We are executing the most significant strategic shift in our company’s history, and the changes we are implementing are designed to deliver long-term value for all stakeholders."

3. Segment Performance Overview

U.S. Domestic Segment

For the U.S. Domestic segment, revenue reached $14.22 billion in Q3 2025, a decline of 2.6% compared to the same period last year. This decrease was primarily driven by an expected volume decline, although it was partially offset by higher revenue per piece and increased air cargo revenue. The operating profit for this segment was reported at $603 million, with a corresponding operating margin of 4.2%. The non-GAAP adjusted operating margin was slightly higher at 6.4%.

International Segment

Contrastingly, the International segment experienced a revenue increase of 5.9%, totaling $4.67 billion. This growth was largely attributed to a 4.8% rise in average daily volume. The operating profit for this segment was reported at $676 million, with an operating margin of 14.5%, and a non-GAAP adjusted operating margin of 14.8%.

Supply Chain Solutions

The Supply Chain Solutions segment saw a revenue drop of 22.1%, reflecting the impact of the previous year’s divestiture of Coyote Logistics. However, the operating profit in this segment rose to $525 million, with an impressive operating margin of 20.8% and a non-GAAP adjusted operating margin of 21.3%.

4. 2025 Outlook

Looking ahead, UPS forecasts approximately $24.0 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2025. The company anticipates a non-GAAP adjusted operating margin in the range of 11.0% to 11.5%. For the full year, UPS confirms capital expenditures around $3.5 billion, dividend payments expected to be around $5.5 billion (pending Board approval), and an effective tax rate of approximately 23.75%.

Additionally, UPS has made significant progress in its pension contributions, totaling $1.4 billion, of which $1.3 billion has already been completed. The company has also executed share repurchases of around $1.0 billion, completed in 2025.

5. Conclusion

As UPS navigates the challenges posed by volume declines and strategic transformations, the company remains committed to enhancing operational efficiencies and delivering value to its customers and stakeholders. With the holiday shipping season approaching, UPS aims to leverage its strategic initiatives to run its most efficient peak period in history while continuing to provide industry-leading service. The upcoming earnings conference call, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET on October 28, 2025, will provide further insights into UPS’s strategic initiatives and financial outlook.
