RTX Corp Expands MRO Services in Asia with New Offerings from Pratt & Whitney Canada

The introduction of MRO services for the PT6C-67C and PW127XT engines marks an important development for Pratt & Whitney Canada, particularly as it seeks to bolster support for over 300 PT6C-67C-powered Leonardo AW139 helicopters currently in operation throughout the region. Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasized the company's commitment to meeting rising demand from local customers. "With the addition of these new heavy MRO services, we are better positioned to meet rising demand from our in-region customers by offering advanced, localized maintenance solutions and reducing turnaround times," Rossi stated.

The Singapore facility, operational since 1983, has been a cornerstone of Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Asia Pacific operations. Over the years, it has evolved into a vital hub for customer support, specializing in overhaul, repair, and front-line services for turboprop engines. With the addition of turboshaft maintenance capabilities for the PT6C-67C and enhanced MRO support for the PW127XT, the facility is set to expand its role in the region significantly.

The new capabilities include full overhauls supported by a state-of-the-art modular test cell, allowing for improved service delivery and operational efficiency. The existing PW100 MRO capabilities have also been expanded to encompass full overhaul support for the PW127XT engine, further solidifying the facility's reputation for excellence in engine maintenance.

The PT6C-67C and PW100 engine families are among the most widely used in the aviation industry, underscoring the importance of the services being launched. To date, Pratt & Whitney Canada has delivered over 3,000 PT6C-67C engines, which have collectively achieved more than 10 million flight hours. The PW100 family, with over 220 million flight hours globally, includes the PW127XT, which itself has accounted for 300,000 flight hours. The reliability and widespread use of these engines highlight the critical nature of the newly introduced MRO services.
