On April 9, 2025, Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX Corp (NYSE: RTX), announced the renewal of its contract with the Heathrow Airline Operators' Committee (AOC) for a further six years. This agreement continues the provision of the ARINC cMUSE (common-use multi-user system environment) solution across all four passenger terminals at London Heathrow Airport (LHR), significantly improving airport operations and passenger processing.

1. A Legacy of Collaboration

The partnership between Collins Aerospace and the Heathrow AOC spans over 25 years, during which both entities have worked collaboratively to deliver scalable and secure solutions for managing passenger traffic. Nicole White, Vice President and General Manager of Connected Aviation at Collins Aerospace, emphasized the commitment to maintain high standards of reliability and on-site support throughout the renewed contract. "We remain committed to delivering the same reliability and dedicated on-site support they have come to expect while exploring new ways to enhance the passenger journey together," she stated.

2. Streamlining Operations with ARINC cMUSE

The ARINC cMUSE system is a next-generation common-use passenger processing system (CUPPS) that allows more than 80 airlines at LHR to utilize shared resources effectively, rather than relying on dedicated infrastructure. By dynamically allocating check-in desks and boarding gates based on real-time demand, the system optimizes space and reduces operational costs, which is crucial for one of the busiest airports globally. In 2024, Heathrow reported a record passenger volume of 83.9 million, underscoring the urgent need for efficient processing solutions.

3. Future Growth and Technological Advancements

Heathrow AOC Chief Executive Nigel Wicking highlighted the airport's commitment to enhancing infrastructure to accommodate increasing passenger numbers. "As the UK's Gateway to Growth, Heathrow is making investments to transform our current infrastructure to serve more passengers than ever before, and it is vital that we leverage the most innovative technologies to keep our operations running smoothly," he noted. The extension of the contract with Collins Aerospace will further support this investment, with plans to explore cloud technology and mobile solutions over the next five years.

The ARINC cMUSE system is versatile, deployable in the cloud, on-site, or as a hybrid solution, and is interoperable with existing common-use terminal equipment and CUPPS. This flexibility allows for quick scaling of operations and the addition of workstations as needed. Furthermore, Collins’ ARINC Managed Services aim to reduce support costs while optimizing resources, ensuring seamless operational functionality 24/7.

4. About Collins Aerospace and RTX Corp
