GXO Logistics Partners with Industry Leaders to Revolutionize UK Defence Supply Chain

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and technology solutions, will spearhead overall integration and programme management. With over 60 years of experience in supporting UK defence operations, Amentum's expertise in logistics and procurement plays a critical role in this alliance. The company plans to expand its UK workforce, adding 3,000 new jobs over the next four years.

GXO will leverage its extensive experience in the aerospace and defence sectors to develop and operate innovative logistics solutions. The recent acquisition of Wincanton has enhanced GXO's capabilities in the UK defence sector, where it currently employs over 60,000 people across 450 sites. The company's Gold Award recognition from the UK Defence Employer Recognition Scheme underscores its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces.

Accenture will lead the digital transformation efforts within the alliance, focusing on digital enablement and integrated decision support capabilities. Their expertise in defence logistics information systems will facilitate real-time data visibility and AI-powered decision-making, which are essential for balancing cost and operational readiness.

Maersk's role will involve providing global integrated movement solutions, ensuring compliance with stringent security standards for defence cargo. Their extensive logistics network and owned assets will enhance the agility and resilience necessary for defence planning.

Loren Jones, Senior Vice President at Amentum, emphasized the alliance's ability to align with the UK's need for operational resilience, stating, "Our combined global reach and military domain experience... perfectly aligns with the UK Defence sector’s requirement for future operational resilience."
