March 31, 2026 – GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), the world's leading pure-play contract logistics provider, has announced the opening of its state-of-the-art logistics hub in Sant’Antonino, Switzerland. This new facility marks a pivotal expansion for the company, reinforcing its commitment to advanced technology, sustainability, and exceptional service in the logistics sector.

1. A New Era of Logistics in Switzerland

The inauguration of the Sant’Antonino site was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key executives including GXO CEO Patrick Kelleher, Continental Europe President Paul Mohan, and Chief Commercial Officer Karen Bomber. The event also welcomed local officials and customers, highlighting the community-centric approach of GXO in its operations.

CEO Patrick Kelleher emphasized the significance of this facility, stating, “This future-forward facility reflects GXO’s growth momentum and our commitment to being the strategic logistics partner of choice for the world’s leading brands.” He underscored the integration of advanced technology and sustainability as core elements of the site’s operational strategy, which aims to enhance customer satisfaction and drive innovation globally.

2. Strategic Location and Connectivity

Situated in the Canton of Ticino, the Sant’Antonino logistics hub serves as a critical junction between Northern and Southern Europe. Its strategic location is enhanced by excellent highway and rail access, facilitating seamless freight movement. Notably, the site boasts a direct rail connection to Swiss Post’s main sorting center in Härkingen, allowing for logistics flows that are both efficient and resilient.

Paul Mohan, President of Continental Europe, further highlighted the thoughtful planning behind this expansion: “Sant’Antonino reflects how GXO approaches growth in Continental Europe: a solid expansion built on modern infrastructure, expertise, and a long-term vision.”

3. Cutting-Edge Automation and Technology

The Sant’Antonino site is designed to leverage automation as a key driver of productivity and safety. The facility features several advanced technological systems:

  • Multi-Shuttle System: Supports the storage and picking of lightweight products with a capacity of 14,000 tote positions.
  • Automated Pallet Shuttle System: Manages 600 pallet locations for heavy and bulky items, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Packing Stations: With 60 dedicated stations, all products are sequenced and consolidated for improved order processing.
  • Mobile Racking Systems: Reaching heights of 15 meters, these systems maximize pallet storage density and minimize floor space use.

This sophisticated automation not only enhances service quality but also fosters skill development among employees, aligning with GXO’s customer-first approach.

4. Commitment to Sustainability

The Sant’Antonino hub spans 20,000 square meters with a total floor space of 55,000 square meters. It features a thoughtfully planned layout aimed at optimizing workflows and maximizing operational efficiency. The facility is designed with sustainability at its core, boasting LEED Platinum and ISO 14001 certifications.

Solar panels covering 20,000 square meters will generate an estimated annual output of 800,000 kWh, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint. Additionally, dedicated systems for monitoring energy consumption and waste management are integral to GXO’s commitment to responsible site management.

Alessandro Renzo, Managing Director of GXO Italy and Switzerland, noted, “Growth today means designing environmentally efficient sites that optimize flows, reduce waste, and support a sustainable operating model. This balance is central to how we are developing our presence in Switzerland.”
