Associated Banc-Corp Expands Presence in Downtown Minneapolis with Significant Office Move
1. A Strategic Move to the Iconic IDS Center
Associated Banc-Corp (NYSE: ASB) announced a significant investment in its Minneapolis operations on June 12, 2025, with plans to relocate its office to the renowned IDS Center. The bank will occupy the entire 43rd floor of the iconic structure, which is situated at 80 S 8th St., marking a strategic move to accommodate its rapid growth. The relocation is slated for Spring 2026, with construction expected to commence in August 2025.
2. Enhancing Accessibility and Convenience
Paul Schmidt, the Twin Cities market president at Associated Bank, emphasized the importance of the IDS Center as a landmark in Minneapolis, stating, "The IDS Center is an iconic symbol of Minneapolis—you don't need an address to know where it is." Schmidt highlighted that the move reflects the bank's commitment to investing in the city's ongoing renaissance, enhancing convenience and accessibility for both clients and employees.
The new office space will more than double Associated Bank's current footprint at the PwC Tower, accommodating approximately 100 employees across several key business lines. This includes teams dedicated to commercial banking, commercial real estate, and relationship management, all focused on serving clients throughout the region.
3. Commitment to Minneapolis
Phillip Trier, executive vice president and head of corporate and commercial banking at Associated Bank, expressed enthusiasm for the move, stating, "Minneapolis is a priority market for us, and we're excited to play a role in drawing people and energy back into the heart of Minneapolis." He noted that the expanded office space reflects the bank's confidence in the city's future and its commitment to providing enhanced services to clients.
This relocation is part of Associated Bank's ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in the Greater Twin Cities area. In addition to the new IDS Center office, the bank is also constructing a new branch location in the Crystal Court of the IDS Center, expected to open in October 2025. With 15 branches already in the Greater Twin Cities area and additional office space in St. Louis Park, Associated Bank aims to reinforce its role in the community.
