Associated Banc-Corp (NYSE: ASB) has announced a significant expansion of its commercial banking offerings in the Dallas market, marking a strategic move to enhance its presence in high-growth areas outside its traditional Midwest base. This initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated Corporate and Commercial Banking team, which will complement the bank's existing Commercial Real Estate (CRE) operations in the region.

1. Strategic Growth in Dallas

The expansion into Dallas is a key strategic decision for Associated Banc-Corp, reflecting its commitment to tapping into dynamic markets that exhibit robust economic growth. The move follows the success of the bank's Kansas City commercial team, which was launched in March 2025 without a traditional branch network. This team doubled its size within its first year, exceeding growth expectations and validating a new approach that combines local expertise with the extensive resources of a $50 billion institution.

Brandon White has been appointed as the Senior Vice President and Dallas Market Leader for Corporate and Commercial Banking. White, who brings over 16 years of experience from Comerica Bank, will spearhead the initiative, overseeing the buildout of the commercial team and the hiring of additional relationship managers. The bank plans to add approximately four positions across its Texas offices in 2026.

2. Leadership and Vision

Phillip Trier, Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking at Associated, emphasized the significance of this expansion. "Dallas represents a significant opportunity for Associated Bank as we continue to expand our commercial banking footprint in high-growth markets beyond the Midwest," he stated. "Bringing on Brandon to lead our Commercial efforts allows us to build on the success of Associated's CRE momentum and deliver a more comprehensive suite of solutions to our clients."

White expressed enthusiasm about the potential to grow Associated’s commercial banking presence in Dallas. He stated, "Dallas is a dynamic, high-growth market, and we are committed to building a strong, local team that understands the needs of businesses here."

3. Infrastructure Development

To support this growth, Associated is doubling the size of its Preston Center office located at 5950 Sherry Lane in Dallas, expanding it to nearly 6,000 square feet. The construction is currently underway, with completion expected in August 2026. This expanded office space will facilitate the new team's operations and provide enhanced services to commercial clients.

4. Enhanced Services for Commercial Clients

The Dallas expansion will also enable Associated to offer enhanced deposit and treasury management solutions to its commercial clients. This initiative builds on the bank's 2024 launch of its Specialty Deposit and Payment Solutions national vertical and the recent addition of Eric Lien as the Director of Treasury Management. The combined efforts will position the Dallas team to offer a comprehensive suite of lending, deposit, payment, and treasury solutions along with its established CRE lending platform.

5. Economic Context and Future Prospects

Dallas is currently witnessing a remarkable growth trajectory, adding approximately 100,000 new jobs annually, which significantly outpaces many major U.S. markets. This economic vitality, coupled with Kansas City's strategic location as a central business hub, positions Associated Banc-Corp to establish a robust commercial banking presence that spans the Southern and Central corridors of the United States.

Since 2020, Associated has experienced substantial growth in its commercial loan portfolio, with 2025 marking a record year for its commercial business. The bank's focus on attracting top talent for key leadership roles and expanding capabilities through new industry verticals has been instrumental in this growth trajectory.

6. Conclusion

As Associated Banc-Corp embarks on this ambitious expansion in Dallas, it underscores the bank's commitment to leveraging local expertise and resources to serve the evolving needs of businesses in high-growth markets. With a strong leadership team in place and a focus on delivering tailored financial solutions, Associated is poised to enhance its competitive position in the commercial banking sector across Texas.
