Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) has unveiled its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, showcasing an impressive performance driven by revenue growth across all manufacturing segments. The company reported a net income of $1.42 per share, an increase from $1.35 in the same quarter of 2025. Adjusted net income, a non-GAAP measure, rose to $1.62 per share, up from $1.55 per share in the prior year.

1. Key Highlights from Q2 2026

"The second quarter continued a strong start to the year for Textron, with revenue growth in each of our manufacturing segments contributing to higher revenues of $500 million through the first half of the year," stated CEO Lisa M. Atherton. The company’s diversified portfolio continues to thrive, with notable advancements in both its aviation and defense sectors.

Financial Overview

  • Operating Activities: Net cash provided by operating activities for the manufacturing group was $235 million, compared to $395 million in the previous year's second quarter. Manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions totaled $154 million, down from $336 million year-over-year.
  • Shareholder Returns: Textron returned $209 million to shareholders through share repurchases during the quarter.

Updated Full-Year Outlook

Textron has reaffirmed its expectations for full-year 2026 GAAP earnings per share from continuing operations to be in the range of $5.39 to $5.59, with adjusted earnings projected between $6.40 and $6.60. The company anticipates manufacturing cash flow, before pension contributions, to fall between $700 million and $800 million.

Notably, the current full-year outlook assumes the receipt of additional funding for the MV-75 Cheyenne program. Without this funding, adjusted EPS could be negatively impacted by $0.20 to $0.30, and cash flow could be affected by $150 million to $250 million.

2. Segment Performance

Textron Aviation

Textron Aviation reported revenues of $1.5 billion, an increase of 1% or $22 million from the second quarter of 2025. The rise in aircraft revenues was driven by higher pricing, though it was partially offset by lower volumes, particularly in the Citation jet segment. The company delivered 40 jets in the quarter, down from 49 in the prior year, and saw an increase in commercial turboprop deliveries from 34 to 44.

Segment profit stood at $165 million, a decrease of 3% from the previous year, mainly due to manufacturing inefficiencies and lower aircraft volume. The backlog for Textron Aviation at the end of the second quarter was $8.0 billion.

Bell

Bell's revenues reached $1.1 billion, reflecting a 6% increase or $58 million compared to Q2 2025. This growth was largely supported by higher military revenues, particularly from H-1 production and the MV-75 program. The company delivered 36 commercial helicopters, up from 32 last year. However, segment profit decreased by 6% to $75 million, primarily due to program performance issues.

The backlog for Bell at the end of the second quarter was $7.5 billion.

Textron Systems

Textron Systems saw a 7% increase in revenues to $347 million, attributed to higher volumes in armored land vehicles and military training services. Segment profit rose by 10% to $44 million, thanks to lower R&D costs. The backlog for Textron Systems stood at $3.3 billion.

Industrial

Industrial revenues were $848 million, up 1% or $9 million from the previous year's second quarter. Kautex contributed to this increase with a $17 million revenue boost, while Textron Specialized Vehicles' revenues dipped due to lower volume. Segment profit grew by 9% to $59 million, influenced by higher pricing net of inflation.

Finance

The finance segment reported revenues of $14 million and a profit of $10 million, compared to $15 million and $8 million in Q2 2025.

3. Looking Ahead

Textron will hold a conference call today at 8:00 a.m. (Eastern) to further discuss its second-quarter results and outlook. Investors and analysts are invited to join the call via the company’s website or through direct dial.
