Textron Aviation Partners with Aeromot to Enhance Cessna Caravan Capabilities

In a significant move to enhance the operational capabilities of the Cessna Caravan aircraft, Textron Aviation has announced a Cooperation Agreement with Brazil's Aeromot Aeronaves and Motores S.A. This partnership aims to develop an innovative in-air openable jump/cargo drop door, a feature that promises to benefit Cessna Caravan owners and operators globally. The announcement was made on March 31, 2025, and reflects Textron Aviation's commitment to offering cutting-edge solutions to its customers.

Under the terms of the Cooperation Agreement, Textron Aviation will provide Aeromot with essential technical and engineering data to facilitate the development of a Brazilian Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). This STC, which will be issued by the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), will validate the installation of the new jump/cargo drop door on Cessna Caravan aircraft.

The introduction of this feature is expected to enhance the versatility of the Cessna Caravan, which is already recognized for its robust performance in various operational contexts, including general aviation, cargo transport, and special missions.

The STC is projected to be made available to the worldwide fleet of Cessna Caravan aircraft, making this development not just a local enhancement, but a global upgrade. Once certified, the in-air openable jump/cargo drop door will also be offered as an optional factory installation for new production aircraft.

This opportunity to work with the Aeromot engineering team to develop this option will benefit Cessna Caravan customers not only in Brazil but around the world.”

The design and manufacture of this new Caravan feature at Aeromot's facility in Rio Grande do Sul is also expected to create employment opportunities in the region.
