Semtech Unveils Advanced 5G Routers to Enhance Public Safety Communication

In a significant move to bolster communication capabilities for public safety agencies, Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC) has announced the launch of its innovative AirLink® XR80 and XR90 Gen2 multi-network routers. These advanced routers are designed to meet the critical mobility challenges faced by first responders, offering enhanced 5G capabilities and proven reliability.

As public safety agencies increasingly leverage AI-powered analytics, real-time video streaming, and autonomous systems for emergency response, the limitations of traditional network infrastructures have become apparent. The cloud-based AirLink Management Service (ALMS) platform provides remote management and out-of-band management (OOBM) capabilities, allowing public safety agencies to efficiently monitor and manage their router deployments.

Moreover, Semtech is expanding its management options with initial support for the AirLink Manager (AM) and AirLink Mobility Manager (AMM) platforms. This flexibility enables agencies to select management solutions that best fit their operational needs, whether through cloud-based, hybrid, or fully on-premises options.

The AirLink XR80 and XR90 Gen2 routers are available immediately through Semtech’s authorized channel partners, with certification completed across all major U.S. carriers and ongoing global 5G network certifications. Customer rollouts are set to begin in November 2025 with the AM/AMM 2.18 release, paving the way for further enhancements in future updates.
