Motorola Solutions Expands Avigilon Enterprise Security Suite to Accelerate Response During Emergencies

The Alta SOS feature empowers users to share vital security data—such as emergency contacts, evacuation plans, floor plans, utility information, camera feeds, and access details—directly with 911 services. Avigilon Alta is part of Motorola's comprehensive enterprise security solution, which encompasses various features such as video security, access control, intercom systems, 24/7 virtual monitoring, mailroom package management, wireless locks, and visitor management. The unified approach aims to tackle the rising security threats facing people, operations, and assets. A highlight of the suite is the recent acquisition of InVisit, a cloud-based visitor management solution provider, which is expected to close in Q2 2025.

Motorola Solutions also introduced significant upgrades to Avigilon Unity, its high-performance, on-premise physical security platform designed for large, multi-site operations, including critical infrastructure, hospitals, and manufacturing facilities. The latest feature allows users to define complex events in video surveillance based on natural language descriptions. For instance, security operators can set alerts such as “alert me if you see smoke and people running,” which will enable continuous scanning of all cameras on the platform. This functionality not only enhances situational awareness but also facilitates quicker response times to potential threats.

Hamish Dobson, Corporate Vice President of Avigilon Unity, emphasized the importance of simplicity in security systems, stating, “The security challenges of large enterprises are complex, but their security systems shouldn't be.” The integration of large language models in Avigilon Unity turns raw security data into actionable alerts, streamlining the process for users.
