1. Strengthening Healthcare Access in Nevada

On April 10, 2025, Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), a prominent healthcare enterprise, announced a significant development through its Nevada subsidiary, SilverSummit Healthplan, Inc. The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services has selected SilverSummit to provide services for the state's Medicaid managed care program. This contract marks a pivotal step in expanding Medicaid Managed Care into rural and frontier service areas, which were previously under a fee-for-service model.

2. Contract Details and Implications

The five-year contract, pending state approval, is set to commence on January 1, 2026, and includes a potential two-year extension. This initiative will enhance access to affordable healthcare for Nevadans, particularly in underserved rural communities. SilverSummit has been serving Nevada Medicaid members since 2017 and currently supports over 100,000 members with comprehensive managed care services.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to help expand access to affordable, quality healthcare in Nevada," stated Sarah London, CEO of Centene. "It's an honor to be entrusted with this important work that is consistent with our mission to transform the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time."

3. Comprehensive Healthcare Services

Under the new contract, SilverSummit will continue providing a range of managed care services, including primary care, telehealth, pharmacy, maternal health, and behavioral health services. The expansion will not only enhance the provider network but also empower local care organizations to better reach and support Nevadans residing in rural and frontier counties.

Eric Schmacker, President and CEO of SilverSummit Healthplan, emphasized the importance of thoughtful healthcare solutions for diverse populations, stating, "Reaching urban, rural, and frontier residents requires thoughtful, comprehensive healthcare solutions, and we are honored to be selected to continue our commitment to the State, our community partners, and especially our members."

4. Marketplace Offering: Ambetter from SilverSummit

In a related development, SilverSummit's marketplace offering, Ambetter, has also been selected as one of three bidders for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services' marketplace public option, the Battle Born State Plan (BBSP). This contract, effective January 1, 2026, is expected to cover approximately 16,000 individuals in its first year, further solidifying SilverSummit's commitment to providing accessible healthcare options.
