Agenus Inc. Set to Showcase Pioneering Phase 2 Data on Botensilimab at ASCO 2026

The abstracts accepted for presentation represent a pivotal advancement in Agenus’ ongoing immunotherapy program, focusing on treatments for colorectal cancer, melanoma, and translational research. Notably, the presentations will include the first Phase 2 clinical data for botensilimab, either alone or in combination with balstilimab, specifically targeting advanced cutaneous melanoma that is refractory or resistant to existing anti–PD-(L)1 therapies, as well as those with prior CTLA-4 inhibition.

Botensilimab is a novel multifunctional anti-CTLA-4 antibody designed to enhance both innate and adaptive immune responses against tumors. Its innovative approach aims to extend the benefits of immunotherapy to “cold” tumors that typically exhibit poor responses to conventional treatments. The therapy has shown promise in boosting immune responses across various tumor types by activating T cells and inducing long-term memory responses.

Approximately 1,200 patients have participated in Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials involving botensilimab and balstilimab, with encouraging clinical responses reported across nine different metastatic cancers.

Balstilimab is a fully human monoclonal IgG4 antibody that inhibits PD-1 from engaging with its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2. Having been evaluated in over 900 patients, it has demonstrated clinical activity and a favorable safety profile across various tumor types.
