In a press release dated February 18, 2025, Austin Alexander, Vice President of Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem, emphasized the importance of volunteer involvement in addressing water challenges. "Around the world, volunteers are driving meaningful progress toward providing clean water and sanitation for communities everywhere,” he stated. “The Wave of Action is an opportunity to scale our impact on urgent water challenges and help communities become water-secure."
Through this initiative, Xylem aims to unite thousands of volunteers who will engage in various activities that promote water security. Participants can choose to lead cleanups, join educational events, or support WASH initiatives, all contributing to a collective effort to create a more water-secure world.
3. Upcoming Webinar and Volunteer Opportunities
To kick off the Wave of Action, Xylem will host a webinar on Thursday, February 20, featuring notable global partners such as Mercy Corps, Engineers Without Borders USA, and Young Leaders from Manchester City’s Water Champions Project. This event aims to inspire and inform participants about how they can get involved in their local communities.

The program has delivered WASH solutions to over 16 million people, provided water education to more than 12 million individuals, and responded to 154 water-related disasters.
In 2024 alone, Xylem's volunteer efforts achieved remarkable milestones, including:
- Providing emergency clean water to 54,000 individuals in Brazil following catastrophic floods, in partnership with the Planet Water Foundation.
- Assembling 2,000 water filters that supplied 20,000 people in crisis zones, including Ukraine, with safe drinking water.
- Funding WASH education programs for children affected by the Morocco earthquake.
- Mobilizing over 3,000 participants to support schools facing water contamination, raising $200,000 for water infrastructure projects.
In total, Xylem employees and partners dedicated more than 220,000 volunteer hours in 2024 through 1,380 nonprofit partnerships across 55 countries.
