1. A Groundbreaking Deployment

On October 23, 2025, Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG), a leader in hydrogen solutions, announced a significant advancement in its partnership with Floor & Decor, a prominent specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring. This collaboration marks the deployment of Plug’s GenDrive hydrogen fuel cell systems and GenFuel hydrogen infrastructure at Floor & Decor's distribution center in Frederickson, Washington. The initiative is noteworthy as it represents the first implementation of a zero-emission material handling fleet by the retailer.

2. Enhancing Operations with Hydrogen Ecosystem

Plug Power has equipped the Frederickson facility with a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem designed to optimize material handling. The deployment includes 77 pieces of material handling equipment powered by Plug’s end-to-end hydrogen infrastructure, which features a 10,000-gallon liquid hydrogen storage tank, vaporizers, compressors, and a high-capacity dispensing system. This infrastructure is specifically designed for high-throughput operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability in the distribution process.

3. Significant Environmental Impact

The implementation of Plug Power's hydrogen fuel cell technology is set to make a substantial environmental impact. It is expected to eliminate over 400 metric tons of CO₂e emissions annually at the Frederickson distribution center. To put this into perspective, this reduction is equivalent to the emissions produced by burning approximately 45,000 gallons of gasoline. Additionally, the only byproduct of this hydrogen fuel cell system is water vapor, which Floor & Decor captures and reuses for various facility operations, including floor scrubbers. Currently, the system generates about 300 liters, or roughly 80 gallons, of water each day for recapture.

4. A Commitment to Efficiency

Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This partnership with Floor & Decor showcases the proven reliability and performance of our GenDrive systems in demanding retail distribution environments.” He emphasized that Plug’s hydrogen solutions align perfectly with Floor & Decor’s commitment to operational efficiency—a cornerstone of Plug’s technological offerings.

5. Future Expansion and Resilience

The successful deployment at Floor & Decor’s Frederickson site not only reinforces the existing partnership but also opens avenues for expanded hydrogen infrastructure. Plug Power’s hydrogen systems are designed with off-grid capabilities, which can enhance energy resilience during outages and periods of grid instability. Furthermore, Plug’s modular infrastructure allows for easy scalability, accommodating Floor & Decor’s growth in operations.

6. Leadership in the Material Handling Market

This collaboration underscores Plug Power’s leadership in the material handling market, showcasing how retailers can leverage hydrogen technology to achieve sustainability alongside operational performance goals. By embracing this innovative approach, companies like Floor & Decor are setting a precedent for environmentally responsible practices in retail logistics.

7. About Plug Power

Plug Power is at the forefront of developing a global hydrogen economy, offering an integrated ecosystem that includes production, storage, delivery, and power generation. As a pioneer in the industry, Plug delivers electrolyzers, liquid hydrogen, fuel cell systems, storage tanks, and fueling infrastructure to various sectors, including material handling and energy production. With more than 72,000 fuel cell systems and 275 fueling stations deployed globally, Plug is rapidly expanding its generation network to ensure a reliable, domestically produced hydrogen supply.

Plug Power's commitment to innovation and sustainability positions it as a key player in advancing energy independence and decarbonization at scale, serving major clients like Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, BMW, and BP.

In summary, the partnership with Floor & Decor reflects a pivotal step towards a more sustainable future within retail operations, harnessing the power of hydrogen technology to meet both environmental and efficiency goals.
