1. Introduction

In a significant display of innovation, Lumentum Holdings Inc. has unveiled a series of advanced technologies and products aimed at addressing the growing demands of next-generation AI and data center infrastructure at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC) held in Los Angeles. The company, renowned for its leadership in photonic solutions, is showcasing its cutting-edge offerings at booth 1439, where industry experts are available for discussions.

2. Highlighting Key Innovations

Lumentum's press release emphasizes multiple demonstrations focused on scale-out, scale-up, and scale-across networking applications, reflecting the company's commitment to advancing the capabilities of AI infrastructure.

1.6T DR4 OSFP Module

One of the star attractions is the 1.6T DR4 OSFP module, designed as a prototype that utilizes four of Lumentum's 400G differential EML lasers. This module serves as a precursor to a future 3.2T offering and provides robust data connectivity of 4x400 Gbps over single-mode fiber optics, as well as an 8x200 Gbps electrical interface on the host side. The 4x400 Gbps structure is engineered to meet the needs of next-generation hyperscale AI data centers, leveraging Lumentum’s expertise in advanced components and high-volume manufacturing.

800 mW Super-High-Power Laser

Following the successful launch of its 400 mW Ultra-High-Power Laser in 2025, Lumentum is showcasing its 800 mW Super-High-Power (SHP) Laser. This remarkable device operates at a wavelength of 1310 nm and achieves over 1.0 W of optical power at 25°C, and 800 mW at 50°C. With a linewidth of less than 100 kHz and a Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) exceeding 40 dB, this laser provides high-performance light sources suitable for co-packaged optics (CPO) and various silicon photonics architectures.

16-Channel DWDM UHP Laser

Another innovation featured is the 16-channel DWDM UHP Laser. This laser source is pivotal for next-generation CPO architectures as it supports high bandwidth densities while minimizing the overall fiber count around host switches or compute ASICs. The demonstration utilizes two ELSFP modules to deliver 16 simultaneous channels across a 200 GHz grid centered at 1310 nm, achieving an optical power output of approximately 24 dBm per channel, compliant with the CW-WDM MSA.

3. Additional Demonstrations for Telco Applications

Lumentum is also presenting a series of demonstrations tailored for scale-across and telco applications, including:

Multi-rail Coherent Optical Channel Monitor (C-OCM)

The Multi-rail C-OCM demonstration introduces three new products: a twin C+L band C-OCM, a C+L band integrated tunable laser assembly (iTLA), and a quad integrated C+L band 3x33 Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) module. This innovative C-OCM integrates two C-band and two L-band channels, quadrupling the density of existing market modules and enabling concurrent scanning of four channels for superior diagnostics.

Multi-rail Dynamic Gain Equalizer (DGE)

The multi-rail DGE with integrated OCMs offers four times the density of available solutions today. This product is designed for long-haul Data Center Interconnect (DCI) networks, optimizing spectral performance across cascaded in-line amplification nodes. The upcoming production version will combine eight equalizers with sixteen channel monitors in an ultra-compact format, facilitating efficient channel monitoring for two fiber pairs.

4. Leadership Insights

Rafik Ward, Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer at Lumentum, remarked, “OFC is an important opportunity for us to demonstrate how Lumentum is pushing the boundaries of photonic innovation. From 400G per lane pluggable modules to ultra-high-power laser sources and advanced coherent monitoring, our portfolio is designed to enable the scale, speed, and efficiency required by next-generation AI and cloud data center infrastructure.”

5. Conclusion

With its array of innovative solutions showcased at OFC 2026, Lumentum Holdings Inc. is clearly positioning itself at the forefront of the photonics industry, ready to meet the increasing demands of AI infrastructure and data centers. As Lumentum continues to innovate, its products are set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of optical and photonic technologies, enhancing connectivity and performance for businesses worldwide.
