IQVIA Holdings Inc. Unveils 2024 Sustainability Report: A Commitment to a Healthier Future

Ari Bousbib, Chairman and CEO of IQVIA, highlighted the company’s dual commitment to technological advancement and environmental stewardship. "IQVIA combines technology and scientific expertise with our unique information assets and Healthcare-grade AI to help solve the most complex healthcare challenges for more than 10,000 life sciences and healthcare customers in over 100 countries," Bousbib stated. He expressed pride in the progress made towards sustainability commitments, emphasizing innovation, trial delivery acceleration, and collaborative efforts across the industry.

The report details multiple initiatives and achievements across various dimensions of sustainability:

IQVIA places a significant emphasis on its workforce, comprising 88,000 employees globally. The company has invested heavily in employee education and development, enhancing its “One IQVIA, Multiple Careers” model. This initiative equips employees with the necessary tools and resources to grow within the company. Over 1,000 employees participate annually in leadership development programs, and internal surveys indicate that IQVIA surpasses Fortune 500 benchmarks in employee engagement metrics.

To address healthcare disparities, IQVIA is actively working to diversify clinical trial participants. This involves expanding geographic trial sites, particularly in underrepresented regions such as Africa and Latin America. The U.S.-based Community Health Initiative has been broadened to enhance patient access to clinical trials. Additionally, the launch of Health Research Space facilitates direct engagement with patients, allowing them to share health information conveniently.

IQVIA’s global impact is underscored by its response to complex health issues, including recent outbreaks of poliovirus, Marburg virus disease, and mpox. The company has partnered with public health stakeholders worldwide to deploy resources aimed at disease eradication. Moreover, 50% of its suppliers have set or committed to emission reduction goals. The report highlights that all of IQVIA’s laboratories have attained My Green Lab certification, collectively avoiding 384 metric tons of CO2 equivalent in lab freezer waste and eliminating nearly 3 metric tons of single-use plastic from clinical trial kits.

IQVIA introduced the IQVIA AI Assistant, a generative AI tool designed to enhance decision-making speed and efficiency for life sciences customers. The establishment of the Center for Defensible AI and an AI Governance Council reflects the company’s commitment to ethical AI usage in healthcare, ensuring compliance with privacy standards and patient safety.
