Tom Smelker arrives at Bel with an impressive background that spans over two decades in the aerospace and defense industries. His most recent role was Senior Vice President and General Manager at Mercury Systems, where he oversaw a substantial $400 million profit and loss (P&L) portfolio across ten locations. Under his guidance, the P&L experienced a significant turnaround, marked by improved profitability and the successful repositioning of key product lines.

Before his tenure at Mercury Systems, Smelker spent 19 years at Raytheon, advancing to the position of Senior Fellow in Secure Processing. He was instrumental in launching a secure systems business, developing advanced microelectronics capabilities, and collaborating with the U.S. Department of Defense and Tier-1 prime contractors. His extensive experience in ruggedized computing, RF systems, secure microelectronics, and space technologies aligns closely with Bel's strategic initiatives.
