May 15, 2026 – Beam Global (Nasdaq: BEEM), a prominent player in innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions, today announced its first-quarter operating results for the period ending March 31, 2026. Despite facing challenges in the quarter, the company's strategic initiatives and operational achievements signal promising growth ahead.

1. Q1 2026 and Recent Company Highlights

Financial Performance

Beam Global's revenue for the first quarter of 2026 stood at $3.1 million, a significant decline of 51% compared to $6.3 million in the same quarter of 2025. This drop is primarily attributed to order timing, with key deliveries pushed into future periods, alongside the traditionally slow season for the company’s European operations. Additionally, ongoing constraints from the lack of federal government EV infrastructure spending further impacted revenue.

Notably, the company reported a $9.0 million backlog as of March 31, 2026, marking a 50% increase from $6.0 million at the end of the previous year. Encouragingly, revenue for the second quarter of 2026 has already surpassed the total revenue of Q1 2026, indicating a strong rebound is in progress.

Operational Highlights

Beam Global achieved several operational milestones in the first quarter:

  • First EV ARC™ Deployment in the Middle East: The company made its inaugural sale of EV charging infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, a significant step in expanding its global footprint.
  • Product Portfolio Showcase: Beam Global's offerings were prominently featured at the "Make it in the Emirates 2026" event in Abu Dhabi, enhancing brand visibility in the region.
  • Launch of Autonomous Charging Technology: The introduction of a patented autonomous wireless charging system for autonomous vehicles positions Beam Global at the forefront of emerging transportation technologies.
  • Expansion into Drone Market: The company secured contracts to supply patented battery systems for drones, reinforcing its presence in the unmanned systems market.
  • Record Orders in Europe: Beam Global experienced a surge in smart city infrastructure product orders, receiving $1.7 million worth of orders within just one week across several European countries, nearly doubling its previous record.

CEO Desmond Wheatley expressed optimism regarding the company's performance despite the challenges faced in Q1. "Our backlog grew significantly, and we are witnessing increasing global demand for our diverse product portfolio,” he stated. Wheatley emphasized that Beam Global's focus on geographic expansion and product diversification is essential for long-term growth.

Gross Profit and Expenses

The company reported a gross loss of $0.4 million for Q1 2026, resulting in a negative gross margin of 13.3%. This decline reflects higher fixed overhead allocations against lower product volume. However, excluding non-cash depreciation and amortization, the adjusted Non-GAAP gross margin was 9.4%, with consolidated product gross margins exceeding 30%.

Operating expenses for the quarter amounted to $6.3 million, a notable decrease from $16.0 million in Q1 2025, which included a significant non-cash goodwill impairment charge. The reduction in operating expenses is attributed to disciplined cost management, although a provision for credit losses did contribute to an increase in expenses compared to the prior year.

Net Loss and Liquidity

Beam Global reported a net loss of $6.9 million, or $(0.33) per share, for the first quarter, an improvement from a net loss of $15.5 million, or $(1.04) per share, for the same period in 2025. The consistency of the Non-GAAP net loss, despite a significant revenue drop, is indicative of the company's effective cost control measures and operational leverage.

In terms of liquidity, Beam Global remains in a strong position with no significant debt and an unused $100 million line of credit. Working capital decreased to $6.2 million from $8.9 million at the end of 2025, largely due to the aforementioned provision for credit losses.

2. Looking Forward

Beam Global's first quarter results underscore both challenges and opportunities as the company navigates a complex market landscape. With a robust backlog, an expanding international presence, and innovative product offerings, Beam Global is well-positioned for growth in the coming months. The management's focus on maintaining financial discipline while pursuing strategic growth initiatives will be key as the company aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for sustainable infrastructure solutions globally. As the electrification of the automotive industry accelerates, Beam Global's role in providing innovative and deployable infrastructure solutions is likely to become even more critical.
