DALLAS, TX – October 7, 2025 – Applied Digital Corporation (Nasdaq: APLD), a leader in high-performance data centers and colocation services tailored for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud workloads, has announced a significant milestone in its strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management (MAM). The company received its first draw of $112.5 million from MAM’s perpetual preferred equity financing facility, which amounts to a staggering $5.0 billion. This funding will primarily support the ambitious build-out of the Polaris Forge 1 campus in Ellendale, North Dakota.

1. Funding Details and Strategic Importance

The initial funding is a crucial step in enabling Applied Digital to complete its 400 megawatt (MW) AI Factory campus, which has been leased to CoreWeave, an industry-recognized AI Hyperscaler™. The financial support from MAM will not only facilitate the construction of the current campus but also pave the way for future expansions, scaling up to a potential capacity of 1 gigawatt over time.

Wes Cummins, Chairman and CEO of Applied Digital, remarked, “Securing this funding at the asset level is especially important in an asset-heavy business like ours. It gives us the capital to complete Polaris Forge 1 and provides a clear path to scale additional campuses.” He emphasized that this partnership with MAM strengthens the company’s balance sheet and accelerates its growth trajectory within the competitive AI data center market.

2. A New Era for AI Infrastructure

The partnership with Macquarie Asset Management is set to dramatically reduce Applied Digital's equity contribution requirements for future development projects. Currently, the company does not anticipate making any additional equity contributions into the Polaris Forge 1 project, highlighting the strategic nature of this financing arrangement.

Anton Moldan, Senior Managing Director at MAM, expressed confidence in Applied Digital’s capabilities, stating, “As the demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) capacity continues to accelerate, we believe Applied Digital will distinguish itself as a valuable partner to hyperscale customers.” His remarks underscore MAM’s commitment to leveraging its extensive experience in managing large-scale data center platforms to support Applied Digital’s growth.

3. Path Forward and Future Plans

Chief Financial Officer Saidal Mohmand articulated the transformative potential of this financing, stating, “This financing is expected to provide us with the capital structure needed to fully deliver Polaris Forge 1 and a path to scale future campuses.” The partnership with MAM is seen as a vital component in driving forward a pipeline of large-scale, next-generation AI factories.

The financial backing will also cover platform-level general and administrative expenses and transaction costs, ensuring that Applied Digital is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of the AI sector.

4. Concluding Thoughts

With the ongoing surge in demand for AI infrastructure, Applied Digital’s innovative approach to data center construction and operation positions it as a frontrunner in the industry. As it embarks on this new partnership with Macquarie Asset Management, the company is set to enhance its capabilities and expand its footprint in the AI landscape.

The financing arrangement was facilitated by Northland Capital Markets, which acted as the sole placement agent for the company. Legal counsel was provided by Lowenstein Sandler LLP for Applied Digital and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP for Macquarie Asset Management.

As the AI revolution continues to unfold, Applied Digital’s strategic initiatives and partnerships will be crucial in shaping the future of high-performance computing and data center solutions.
