Air Products & Chemicals Inc. to Showcase Decarbonization Innovations at Canadian Hydrogen Convention

Rachel Smith, Vice President and General Manager for Canada Low Carbon Hydrogen, emphasized Air Products' commitment to supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. "Air Products has deep roots in Edmonton. We are excited to again take part in the Canadian Hydrogen Convention and have the opportunity to share information on our innovative technologies and growth in the Edmonton region," she stated. Smith is set to deliver opening remarks on the second day of the convention, addressing attendees at 9:45 a.m. on April 22 in Hall A.

Attendees of the Canadian Hydrogen Convention are encouraged to visit Air Products' booth (#614) on the exhibition floor. Here, they can engage with industry specialists and discover how industrial gases, particularly hydrogen, can enhance their operational processes. The convention will feature several presentations from Air Products' experts, focusing on two key innovations:

Timothy Lebrecht, Industry Manager for Chemical and Clean Energy Processes at Air Products, will discuss a novel boiler burner technology designed to enable low NOX emissions and decarbonization through hydrogen. This technology allows for stable steam performance across a full range of hydrogen blends—ranging from zero to 100 percent—when used in conjunction with natural gas. This session will take place on April 21 from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at H2 Tech Hub 3.

Kyle Aucker, Senior Principal Project Engineer at Air Products, will present information on a next-generation portable hydrogen fueler. This innovative solution is designed to facilitate zero-emission transportation by expanding access to hydrogen fueling across Alberta and beyond. Developed in collaboration with Alberta Innovates' Hydrogen Center of Excellence Program, this session is scheduled for April 22 from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. at H2 Tech Hub 1.

Air Products is already a significant player in the hydrogen sector in Alberta, operating three hydrogen production facilities and a 55-kilometer pipeline network within the Alberta Industrial Heartland. Notably, construction is progressing on Air Products' net-zero hydrogen energy complex in Edmonton.
