Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), a leading global protection company known for safeguarding connected devices, homes, and automobiles, has announced the appointment of Lynn Blake to its Board of Directors, effective today. Blake, who previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at State Street Investment Management, brings over three decades of experience in asset management and investment strategies to her new role.

1. Strengthening the Board with Expertise

Blake’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by Assurant to bolster its governance and financial oversight. She will serve on both the Finance and Risk Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Elaine Rosen, Chair of the Assurant Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm about Blake joining the team, noting her extensive background in investment strategies, risk management, and corporate governance.

“We are pleased to welcome Lynn to our Board,” said Rosen. “Her deep expertise will help guide Assurant as we continue to advance the company’s strategic priorities and deliver long-term value for our partners, customers, and shareholders.”

2. A Proven Track Record

Lynn Blake's career is characterized by leadership in investment management, particularly in systematic equity strategies. At State Street, she directed a global team and was instrumental in overseeing sustainability and stewardship functions. Her experience includes developing and managing some of the earliest index funds, reflecting her innovative approach in the investment landscape.

In addition to her role at Assurant, Blake currently serves on the boards of United Natural Foods, Inc. and WisdomTree, Inc. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation since 1995 and boasts a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship Certification alongside an NACD Certificate in Cyber-Risk Oversight.

3. Transition in Board Membership

Blake's addition to the Board comes alongside the announcement of Debra Perry’s planned retirement, effective at Assurant's 2026 annual shareholder meeting. Rosen acknowledged Perry's significant contributions to the company, stating, “Her steadfast commitment to our company has made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for her many contributions.” This transition highlights Assurant's ongoing efforts to refresh its Board and enhance governance standards.

4. Looking Ahead

Keith Demmings, Assurant’s President and CEO, emphasized the value Blake will bring to the company. “Lynn’s global leadership experience and disciplined approach to investment and risk management make her a valuable addition to our Board,” Demmings remarked.
